Scanlans Facility Management Expands To Meet Growing Demand

The facility management division of Scanlans Property Management is celebrating a successful first year of operation, with a fast-growing customer base and an expanding team.

Scanlans Facility Management, which is led by Ben Mason, provides cleaning and caretaking services and much more besides at over 60 blocks of flats across the north of England.

The team of six carry out minor and essential repairs themselves and, with the aid of the latest technology, take a proactive approach to problems they cannot fix.
Scanlans FM’s portfolio currently spans sites in Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Crewe and Bradford, with plans to expand into other regions.

Partner Ian Magenis, who heads Scanlans Property Management, says: “We are pleased to see this service expanding and we are looking to continue its rapid growth after establishing a solid base in its first year.

“From a standing start, we are now providing facility management services for management companies at over 60 sites, comprising around 3,000 apartments, and we recently took delivery of a second van to meet growing demand.

“Our staff offer more than just a cleaning and caretaking service, as we see them as an extension of the property management service we provide to our clients.

“They provide an ancillary service which involves checking the buildings, identifying repairs and resolving them on the spot wherever possible.

“In addition, our use of an electronic maintenance tracking app means they can take photographs on their mobile phones, record what they have done and upload the information on to our system.

“This electronic reporting service provides a clear audit trail and retrospective monitoring as well as improved communications, so an issue such as a fence being down can be relayed swiftly to the property manager, who will be able to sort it out promptly.

“Scanlans FM is a natural extension to our property management service and we’ve had a very positive response from clients, who see that it offers them added value on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.”
