ARMA (Association of Residential Managing Agents)

We have talked in previous blogs about Scanlans Property Management ARMA-Q accreditation, and about being members of ARMA (Association of Residential Managing Agents), but what does this mean for residents, leaseholders and Directors of Residents Management Companies?

ARMA was founded in 1991 to set standards in residential block management that members must meet.   ARMA promote professionalism in property management, as well as producing information and advice for leaseholders.

As members of ARMA, we comply with the ARMA-Q Standards and Consumer Charter

ARMA is governed by a Council of up to 12 volunteers who are elected by the membership; they represent a mix of small to large firms.

The residential leasehold sector is unregulated, and therefore anyone can set up as a managing agent without any qualifications of experience.     As members of ARMA, you are assured that Scanlans Property Management work to the Consumer Charter and Standards, and have the right professional experience.

You can be confident that your service charge money is legally and safely held, this is demonstrated by holding service charge monies in trust, as required by law.

Scanlans property management has Professional Indemnity Insurance; this covers you against inadequate advice and negligence.

We are also bound by professional standards, and must comply with the RICS Service Charge Residential Management Code – this defines the best practice for the sector.

In addition, being members of ARMA give you an independent redress as we belong to an independent ombudsman scheme.
